What is the Department of Veteran’s Affairs (DVA)?

The Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) provides a wide range of services and benefits to veterans, war widows/ers, former Defence Force members, members of the Australian Federal Police, and their families. DVA also works closely with state and territory governments, ex-service organisations, health professionals and the general community to deliver these services.

• Mental health care – counselling and treatment

• Employment assistance – job-seeking help, career advice and training

• Education assistance – scholarships and bursaries

 

Who is eligible?

What can we do at Adelaide Physio and Podiatry Clinic?

Initial assessment

If you are experiencing pain or problems with your feet, knees, back, or shoulders, our team can provide you with an initial assessment. During this assessment, we will ask about your symptoms, medical history and lifestyle. We will also carry out a physical examination. Based on this information, we will develop a treatment plan that is tailored to your individual needs.

Ongoing physio and podiatry treatment.

Even if you have seen a physiotherapist or podiatrist before, it is important to get regular check-ups. This is especially true if you are living with a chronic condition, such as diabetes. Our team can provide you with ongoing treatment and management, to help you stay on top of your condition.

We are able to treat DVA clients in any of our clinics, or through our home visit services. For those looking for in-home treatment, we can offer complete physiotherapy and podiatry care, orthotics and footwear.

What you need to know

What we need from you

In order to see a podiatrist or physiotherapist, you must get a DVA D904 referral from your GP, made out to Adelaide physio and Podiatry Clinic.

This referral will last for 12 months or a maximum of 12 visits, whichever comes first.

How long does it take

For an initial consultation allow 30-40 minutes. 

Before your appointment

When making your appointment, let our support staff know you are a DVA client and your main foot concerns. Bring your DVA card and your D904 referral to your appointment. 

During your appointment

Your initial consultation will include an assessment where your podiatrist or physiotherapist will determine your course of treatment, beginning immediately.

What are the costs involved?

This will depend on the service you require and what card you hold. There are usually no out-of-pocket costs for DVA gold card clients, but please discuss this with your podiatrist or physiotherapist at your initial appointment. What to expect in your consult?

 

On arrival, you’ll be greeted with a smile by our lovely admin team. You’ll then meet your podiatrist or physiotherapist, who will listen to your history, work with you to perform a thorough assessment and begin treatment to get to the bottom of your concerns.
Your time is valuable, so you can complete your client forms either in person or online before your appointment to make things run smoothly. If you have any questions at all, please feel free to ask. We’re here to help!
